At Palmer Station, Antarctic Artists and Writers Program grantees were assigned Boat 66, dubbed “Artists’ Boat.”

The wind speed monitor. Weather conditions determine the day’s activities. At Palmer Station, Zodiacs are grounded at winds of 25 mph and greater.

The knot we used most often to tie the Zodiac securely to a hitch.

In 1989 the Argentine supply ship Bahía Paraíso ran aground and sank in Arthur Harbor off Palmer Island. The life ring, as both relic and caution sign, decorates the wall.
