The traditional stone patio is translated into carpet and wood decking, with green carpeting occupying the interstitial spaces, and the pavers now made from wood. These materials, common to the suburban idiom, are relocated in an uncommon way, exposing the often arbitrariness of convention in use of substrate and pattern.
